FAQ
Q. What is a papaya?
A. The papaya is a fruit, also known
as a papaw or paw paw, in Thai it is called
malakaw. Papayas grow in tropical and
subtropical regions and range from yellow,
orange to green in color. The Thai papaya is
much larger than the ones seen in the shops in
the US and Europe and most Thai’s prefer to eat
them when they are still green, making it into a
spicy shredded papaya salad called somtam.
Q. Who makes the products
for Papayakids.com?
A. We use a range of local suppliers
in Chiang Mai and surrounding areas to supply
our products. All the companies we work with are
either SME (small- and medium-sized enterprises)
or cooperatives. We try to work with smaller
companies, because we want to be closely
involved in the design and manufacturing process
of our products. We want to make sure that we
get the products we want and that the quality of
the products is up to standard. We also want to
have an impact on the local community as well
and try to source everything we can locally,
although some specialty items we have to source
from Bangkok as there are no local suppliers.
Q. What are the shipping
options and when can I expect my products to
arrive?
A. We offer a range of shipping
options to our customers, to fit timing and
budget constraints. For a more detailed
explanation, please see our page on (link to:
shipping page) “shipping”. Shipping is charged
extra and we offer the following methods: Air
Mail, Surface Air Lift (SAL), Express Mail
Service (EMS) and Fedex. Although delivery times
will vary, generally Air Mail packages take
about one to two weeks to the US and Europe and
a few days to destinations in Asia. SAL takes
about one-two months to the US and Europe and
about three to four weeks to destinations in
Asia. EMS is the post office courier service and
packages to the US and Europe take about a week
and several days to Asia. Fedex is an
international courier service and packages to
the US and Europe will take two to three days
and one to two days within Asia. All the
packages we sent out are registered.
We offer a
wide range of shipping options, because some
customers may need their packages in a timely
manner, others may consider cost more important
than timing. In general, the cheapest method of
shipping is by SAL, next is Air Mail, then EMS
and the most expensive, but the fastest method
is Fedex.
Please note
that you will be responsible for any customs
duties levied on your packages.
Q. What payment options do
you accept?
A. For a
more detailed description of payment options,
please see our page on payment options. We hope
to offer secure on-line credit card shopping
soon, but for now, we have to accept personal
cheques from customers in the US and Europe.
Products will be shipped as soon as your cheque
clears and we will notify you when we ship your
order. Currently, for our customers in Japan, we
offer bank transfer as a payment option.
Q. What if the merchandize
arrives damaged?
A. We take care in securely packing
all our products, however, in some rare cases
merchandize may be damaged during shipment.
Please contact us immediately at (contact e-mail
address link here) and let us know what
happened. If you can e-mail us a digital photo
of the damaged merchandize, this will help us
