When asking new moms to submit their product ideas for Papayakids.com, the most requested item we received was a personalized quilt. High quality handmade quilts have now become almost unaffordable, not to mention personalized quilts. The only reason Papayakids.com is able to offer not only a quilt, but an affordable, personalized quilt, is by working with a local cooperative of housekeepers, who specialize in making quilts. It took us a good part of a year to find this cooperative, which is located in a city called Phrae, about three hours? drive from Chiang Mai. Phrae is known for its hand-stitched products, which means that we are able to procure very high quality handmade quilts at a reasonable price. This cooperative allows women to supplement their income with quilting and this means that we are supporting the local community as well.
We have used traditional quilt designs and colors that will remain timeless and are elegant. This is in the hope that these quilts will become heirlooms for those that receive them as gifts, allowing them to use the quilt for a long, long time. The quilts are beautifully handcrafted in soft 100% cotton fabric and are perfect as a bedspread or as a floor covering for children and babies to play on. Each quilt is personalized with the child?s name, adding that extra unique quality to this gift.
